A Hardware Non-Invasive Mapping Method for Condition Bits in Binary Translation

Binary translation, as an important bridge for application compatibility between different instruction set architectures (ISAs), has attracted much attention in the industry. However, due to hardware resource limitations of target ISA, translation efficiency and practicability are poor. Recently, Apple made it possible run x86 programs on ARM through a technology called Rosetta based software-hardware collaboration. In this paper, we proposed non-invasive mapping method condition bits (HNIMCB) binary which innovatively implements setting referencing operations without changing original encoding function processor. This is applicable from source with bit operations. It eliminates difference conditional resources ISAs, reduces computational instructions memory access after dramatically improves efficiency. We conducted experiment functional simulation level using QEMU translator RISC-V. A series benchmark tests revealed that total number decreased by 41%, while 37% applying HNIMCB.
